New single malt released just for Alberta

Love collecting single malts? Then get your hands on a bottle of The GlenDronach 10.

Created only for Canadians and currently rolling out only to select retailers in Alberta, The 2009 GlenDronach 10 is a limited-edition Highland single malt created by master blender Rachel Barrie from a carefully chosen handful of Pedro Ximenez casks. What to expect: a gorgeous blast of orange peel, raisins, chocolate, ginger and nutmeg.

Interestingly, The GlenDronach is one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries. In operation since 1826, it was started by one James Allardice; later owners include Teachers and Sons, Walter Scott and, then, Charles Grant, son of the founder of Glenfiddich, who bought it in 1920. It’s 43% ABV and about $95. Look for it in Calgary at select retailers including Craft Cellars, Willow Park Wines and Spirits, Kensington Wine Market and Zyn.
